I still remember that moment, seen through the eyes of a happy child who watched parents working together, the buzz of a sewing machine, and the smell of an overheated iron. I was 12 years old when I sewed a zipper on trousers for the first time. I was surprised by how smoothly everything went. I was so very proud of myself, and the looks on the faces of my parents when they exchanged glances only reinforced that feeling of satisfaction. That was how I started my journey into the world of sewing and fashion designing. I remember how my sisters would take my clothes and parade in them. I am now a TV editor, but I have always been passionate about fashion designing. There is the saying that true love never ends, and I believe that it also holds true for my passion. I have decided to revisit it, but this time in a different way, as a career choice. I draw inspiration for my ideas from my mother, who had a unique way of seeing the world. She would tell me, “No school will teach you how to be perceptive – you either have this skill or you don’t.” There is something magical about how we express ourselves. When we engage our creativity, we identify with what we create. I would never sew a dress that I would not want to wear, and all of the products I design are made in one or two copies. Some of them are made from recycled materials. I choose a wide variety of colors, because I do not design typical seasonal collections. I hope that the clothes I make will be timeless and will appeal to all women who share my sense of style, regardless of their age. I dedicate my works to my mother. They reflect both her and my character. Designer for Wendy
